You're being invited to host a Challenge because your taste is the point. Spindle Challenges aren't generic listening prompts — they're a week (or two, or month) of daily picks shaped by a single person with a specific lens. Yours.
What a Challenge is
A Challenge is a sequence of daily prompts. Each day, players submit one record from their collection that answers the prompt. Other players see picks, leave reactions, and a small community forms around your week. The whole thing lives or dies on the prompts.
What a prompt looks like
One line. Specific. Answerable from a real collection. Examples: “A record you bought drunk,” “Side D of a double LP,” “An album you only play in the kitchen.”
Voice
Write like you're texting a friend who knows records. Specific beats clever. Constraints beat themes. A prompt that rules out half the obvious picks is doing its job.
Do: be opinionated, use constraints (decade, format, mood, instrument, length, lyric), leave room for surprise.
Don't:write prompts with one obvious right answer, use generic superlatives (“best,” “favorite,” “greatest”), theme a whole week around one genre unless that's the explicit pitch, or reference current events that'll feel dated in three months.
Arc
Your Challenge has shape. Day 1 invites people in. Mid-week prompts push harder. The final day pays off the pitch.
